Iqra Sweet Home, a CSR initiative of Iqra University, was established in 2013 with the mission to provide homeless children with a nurturing environment that supports both their education and well-being. Founded by the late Mr. Hunaid Lakhani, Founder and Chairman of Iqra University, this noble project continues under the leadership of his sister, Ms. Maheen Lakhani. Our goal is to transform the lives of underprivileged children, equipping them with the skills and resources to build a brighter future.
Our mission is to offer the children of Iqra Sweet Home a safe and loving environment where they can thrive academically, emotionally, and physically. We are committed to fostering a sense of security, providing access to quality education, and promoting a healthy lifestyle, all while ensuring each child’s well-being and future success.
Iqra Sweet Home envisions a future where every child, regardless of their background, is given the opportunity to grow, learn, and contribute to society as a self-sufficient and responsible individual. Our goal is to empower these children with the tools they need to overcome adversity, build resilience, and make meaningful contributions to the community.
Iqra Sweet Home is composed of four houses, each catering to a group of 12 children within the same age range of 5 to 12 years. The children live in a family-style setting with house moms overseeing their daily activities and routines. At the age of 12, children are prepared for the entrance examination for Pakistan Cadet School. We collaborate with Pakistan Steel Cadet College to provide opportunities for these children to continue their education. All expenses related to their education at the college level are fully covered by Iqra Sweet Home.
Each of our four houses is equipped to provide a comfortable, homely environment. Each house has 2-3 dedicated house moms who support the children in maintaining a structured daily routine. The houses are fully staffed with cleaning personnel, laundry services, and kitchen facilities to ensure smooth daily operations. In addition, each house is equipped with a computer lab, a well-maintained office, bedrooms, and a cozy lounge area where children can relax. The main house also features a spacious dining hall where all the children gather for meals.
Meals at Iqra Sweet Home are freshly prepared by an experienced chef from Iqra University and are individually packed for both children and staff members. Our meal plan emphasizes nutritious, well-balanced diets, ensuring that every child’s dietary needs are met. Fresh seasonal fruits are delivered daily to each house by local fruit vendors, further promoting healthy eating habits.
The day begins with Fajr prayers, followed by a nutritious breakfast before the children head to their respective schools. After returning around 2 pm, they enjoy a well-deserved lunch, followed by Quranic studies, recreational activities, and personalized tutoring to complete their homework. Three times a week, children participate in sports classes with an in-house sports teacher, making use of the Iqra University old campus playground. Periodic computer lessons and music classes are also part of their holistic development.
